|
|
| Quote: | The Department of Workforce Development says a computer glitch is behind the delay of mailing unemployment checks to displaced workers. The delay has out of work people looking for answers.
Matt Cooper has been out of work for about a year. He says his unemployment application is pending. "The money's in Madison, waiting for it to get to Green Bay. It's kind of ridiculous."
Unemployment benefits were extended in October, but the computer program snag has put a hold on people like Paul Zeman from getting paid. "It makes it tough when you're 3-4 weeks without any money coming in."
State leaders tell NBC26 they are working on fixing the problem. "We have been getting our computer system adapted to get out this sixth extension, because it takes re-programming." Roberta Gasman said.
A spokesperson for the Department of Workforce Development says waiting 30 days for a check isn't that unusual. But Zeman says try telling that to the bill collectors. "What do you tell your creditors, what do you tell the banks when they want the money for your house payment, car payment, your utilities." |
